VCOS– An Integrated Management Solution for
Business Agility
|
|
| |
| |
VCOS is a solution to application
integration. Unlike toolsets, a solution is a system
whereby there are clearly defined relationship between
real world events and data entered into the system in
accordance with a formalized process. VCOS is a complete
solution in that it supports the automation of tasks
related to integrated applications throughout the entire
life cycle of the application from its creation through
its operations and across changes in functionality and
new technologies.
|
VCOS has the
ability to orchestrate the actions of the various
individuals in the organization into a single directed
force for integrated applications by forming a
computerized system around which the people work in a
systematic and enforced/ verifiable standard manner. GUI
driven integration, as opposed to programmatic methods,
is used.
It is not a system for
business end users (although they are the ultimate
beneficiary), but one for the IT organization,
particularly the application developers who are
ultimately responsible for creation and maintenance of
integrated applications. The other parts of the
IT organization (e.g. operations, security, technology,
network etc) are also supported for their role in
integrated applications through VCOS functions to ensure
a seamless, automated system spanning the entire
spectrum of tasks involved in integrated applications.
VCOS is not an application development system, it does
not create business logic, and neither does it generate
application code (and hence it is not CASE either). In
any part of the entire project process, there are two
distinct types of work: Localized business logic for the
component and integration logic and functions with other
components in the integrated application. Integration
logic/ functions permeates through each segment of a
typical project. It is this integration logic /
functions that VCOS computerizes. VCOS has removed the
need for programming in this area and replaced it with
GUI functions, which seamlessly flows from one stage of
the project to the next. With VCOS, tasks are clearly
defined (they are now VCOS actions) and hence measurable
and manageable. Deliverables are now clearly defined
(they are VCOS entities) and clearly understood by all
in the collective, removing most ambiguities. The end
result, the integrated application, is now clearly
defined and maintainable. |
