The VCOS EFT switch is the component on VCOS which
provides a solution for processing both card and non-card based transactions
within and across financial institutions. In its modular form it can
be configured as a central switch for a group of institutions, as
a participating member institution and as an interface for systems
internal to an institution. This switch is generic and is used for
applications spanning shared ATM systems, EFT/POS systems, stored-value
card systems, VISA systems and Internet direct debit systems. Additional
software from the suite of Isis banking solutions are normally configured
with the generic VCOS EFT switch for the different applications. |

Its
functions
As
a generic switching engine, the VCOS EFT switch conforms to all common
practices and principles of processing such transactions in banking.
The switch, being part of VCOS, also incorporates very advanced techniques
in this largely traditional area of banking which has not seen much
improvement in ease of implementation and support. The advanced techniques
of VCOS makes this one of the easiest switches to work with, particularly
in the area of integration and ongoing maintenance due to the revolutionary
VCOS techniques.

The
VCOS EFT switch easily satisfies traditional principles and practices
which include:
-
communications
SNA LU6.2 APPC, x.25, TCP/IP, IBM MQSeries -
message switching
real-time and store & forward
-
message formatting
ISO 8583, XML, field code orientated
-
transaction processing
integrity and checkpoint recovery
-
24x7 non-stop operations
log switching, backup
-
transaction logging
system log, trace log, transaction log
-
encryption and security
HSM
-
device drivers
ATM, EFT/POS |

Its
Advantages
Where
the VCOS EFT switch differs from a traditional switch is the manner
in which work is carried out in customization, implementation, operations
and support. The VCOS GUI facilities spanning creation, hosting, operating
and administrating the complex set of software that makes up a switch,
in a compartmentalized form that is maintainable for this specialized
area of banking where expertise is very difficult to find, is what
makes the VCOS EFT switch compelling.VCOS component technology compartmentalizes
the different areas and through GUIs “packages” each part
of a switch so that it may be worked with independently and easily
through parameters. Sophisticated VCOS simulators completes this very
effective environment by providing a means of enforcement of quality,
performance and standards spanning individual components through the
entire sub-systems. The requirement of highly qualified staff and
high quality intricate work is greatly reduced (along with their cost
and risks) with the VCOS EFT switch. |
